One of A Kind 1900 Article and Picture of Horse Racing Legend John Jack Watts SIGNED by Watts Derby Winner English Jockey. Most likely the only one of these in the world! The article and picture are from an article about H.R.H Edward VII, who was soon to become King Edward the VII. (He became King in January 1901 upon the death of Queen Victoria).
Mr Watts rode horses for Henry VII, The Duke of Hamilton and many others and was close with the King. Watts rode on many prominent mounts and was credited with 19 career major wins. He won the 1000 Guineas four times, aboard Miss Jummy in 1886, Semolina in 1890, Thais in 1896 and Chelandry in 1897. He won the 2000 Guineas twice, aboard Ladas in 1894 and Kirkconnel in 1895.
Mr Watts won the Epsom Oaks four times, aboard Bonny Jean in 1883, Miss Jummy in 1886, Memoir in 1890 and Mrs. Butterwick in 1893. He had five victories in the St Leger Stakes, aboard Ossian in 1883, The Lambkin in 1884, Memoir in 1890, La Fleche in 1892 and Persimmon in 1896.
His Derby Victories came aboard Merry Hampton in 1887, Sainfoin in 1890, Ladas in 1894 and Persimmon in 1896. Persimmon was owned by H.R.H Henry VII, and Watts also rode him to victory in the 1897 Ascot Gold Cup.
Watts was considered one of the greatest jockeys in the late 1800's with hundreds of wins in addition to the notable ones above. Mr Watts died in 1902 at the age of 41. The article you are viewing was signed between 1900 and his death in 1902. The signature in blue ink reads as follows:
To My Personal Friend, Jo Gallagher John Watts ( Last name may not be spelled correctly, writing is hard to make out.
The piece measures 9 7/8 inches tall and 7 Inches wide. It is guaranteed authentic for life!
One of a kind, perfect for the Horse Racing collector or would look fabulous framed and hanging on the wall.
Thanks for Viewing

We get asked this alot, and the answer is quite simple. No two records are alike. Grading may be the same, but each cover and record is different. By listing each one individually with its own catalogue number, what you receive is exactly what you see pictured. This is especially important for cover condition. Some have hype stickers and shrink wrap, some have writing, etc. Be assured the record you receive will be the exact one in the picture. Using quantity instead of each record individually would save a ton of time, but we do it this way so that each buyer gets exactly what they are expecting!
Our scale is similar, but not the same, as goldmine. We have used this scale for years and feel it most accurately represents the condition of the records.
Mint (Sealed)

1 of 3
Excellent
Vinyl...Most of the records we sell are in this range. Vinyl may have a few light scuffs or scratches, but nothing that distracts from the sound quality when playing.
Cover... Covers will look great with no major damages, writing, etc.
Very Good
Vinyl... Record will have scuffs and scratches, but they will not affect the play quality. Record should play through with no skips or major pops. Label may have writing on it.
Cover...Cover will show normal handling wear for the age. May have a cut or writing somewhere on the front or back. May have a light water stain. Will not have paper loss or drawing.
Good
Vinyl...A Good record is in fact not really that good. Should play through but may have sound distortions, pops, etc.
Cover...A Good cover is in fact not really that good either! It can be torn, water damaged, have paper loss, heavy writing, etc. But you will still be able to see it!
Fair and Poor
These grades are really one in the same.... and neither is good. Please don't buy a poor or fair graded record and expect it to look good or sound good! It probably won't!! These should only be used for art projects, collection fillers until a better copy can be obtained, or if you just want that particular record and don't want to spend a ton of money!!
Any questions about our grading guidelines please let us know!
Of course! Just message us for a quote! No collection is too large, and no transaction is too small. You may be surprised by what we will buy and how much we will pay for it!!
Not at this time. We are online only, and all items are shipped with the exception of large furniture items that are marked as pick up only.
Our #1 Priority is customer satisfaction. If your record does not play well, please email us and let us know. We will either offer a refund or a replacement. We don't just sell records, we help you build your collection. That's why every record is shipped in a clear 3 or 4mil plastic protector, which will preserve your record and cover for years to come. Also looks better than just having records loose on a shelf!! We have over 5000 repeat customers and hope to double that by the end of 2022. Our formula to do that is simple.. fair prices, honest descriptions and great customer service. If you are happy, so are we. If you aren't, let us at least try to make you happy!! You will find we are very easy to work with!
Of course! Let's say you have a bunch of country records, only problem is you like rock. Message us with a list of what you have, and which records in our shop you would like to trade for. We have done many trades where the only money that changes hands is for shipping!
Yes! At any given time we will have 3-5000 records listed in our store. At that same time, we have another 10-15 thousand that aren't listed! As the old saying goes, there is not enough time in the day! We have a complete list of the majority of them, so if you are looking for something particular just message us and we will tell you if we have it, the condition and price, and then set up a custom listing for you with pictures and any specific details.
